LAKE TAHOE — After a chilly and slightly snowy start to the week, sunny skies and spring-like temperatures should return Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

A dusting of snow fell throughout the Truckee/Tahoe region Sunday night, and the weather service calls for a 50 percent chance of rain or snow on Monday.

By Tuesday, temperatures are expected to reach the mid-50s, with highs in the lower-60s possible by Wednesday in Truckee and North Tahoe.

Colder weather is expected to return, however, with snow possible Saturday and Sunday (the latter being the start of the Amgen Tour of California in Tahoe), although initial forecasts call for a high of 49 degrees Sunday in Tahoe City.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 52. East wind around 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 29. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 59. South wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Friday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 59.
