INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The Sierra Nevada College Millennium Plus Scholars Award is a $50,000 scholarship (four years at $12,500) earmarked for the approximately 8,000 graduating high school seniors (Spring 2011) who will be eligible for the Guinn Millennium Scholarships.

Students are awarded Guinn Millennium Scholarship recipient status upon graduating from a Nevada high school with a 3.25 grade point average and completing a rigorous high school curriculum.

Students interested in receiving Sierra Nevada College's Millennium Plus Scholars Award — which supplements the Guinn Millennium Scholarship — must meet the Nevada state scholarship eligibility requirements and apply for the award by September 1, 2011.

“This Millennium Plus Scholars Award — the first of its kind in the state — will create an added benefit for Nevada's Millennium Scholars, as well as a further incentive for them to remain in Nevada, and is a win-win both for the student and for Sierra Nevada College,” said Nicole Ferguson, SNC director of financial aid.

Sierra Nevada College is proud to be part of the state initiative and to further support students in their quest for a college education, Ferguson said.

Students may apply the $1,980 from the state of Nevada and $12,500 from Sierra Nevada College (both annual amounts) toward tuition.
