CRYSTAL BAY, Nev. — The Cal Neva Resort, Spa and Casino announced recently the appointment of Jim Van Deusen as its new director of sales and marketing, and Lane Murray as its new sales manager.
Both seasoned professionals will lead sales and marketing efforts for this legendary property located at Crystal Bay on Lake Tahoe's North Shore.
According to a press release, Van Deusen brings more than 30 years of hospitality experience to the resort hotel. Most recently, Van Deusen led the international and domestic sales efforts for Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in Mammoth, Calif.
As a specialist in the destination market, Van Deusen's accomplished career includes sales and marketing leadership positions with resort and business hotels throughout the west.
“I'm thrilled to be back home in the Lake Tahoe region,” said Van Deusen. “It's an honor to be a part of the legendary Lady of the Lake, and I look forward to sharing its many attributes with visitors from around the world.”
Van Deusen is a well-known figure in the region's resort business. He was a sales manager for several years at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe on the north side of the lake and led the sales and marketing for the famous Harvey's Resort Casino Hotel on Lake Tahoe's south shore for 10 years.
For the past 22 years, Murray dedicated her life to education as a key leader in the development and growth of Sierra Nevada College, the independent, accredited four-year liberal arts college located in Incline Village.
As the former SNC Director of Alumni and Parent Relations, Dean of Students, Director of Admissions, and Director of Student Life, Murray's skills in management, sales, communication and event production — along with her community ties — are an ideal fit for the Cal Neva's sales manager position, the press release states.
In her new position, Murray is responsible for group sales and special events.
“This is a comfortable transition for me,” she said. “I've always had a genuine desire to help others enjoy life at Lake Tahoe, and I look forward to promoting this prestigious property as well as the surrounding High Sierra to locals and visitors alike.”
Once a secret haven for Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack, San Francisco's upper crust, Hollywood's stars and international dignitaries, the Cal Neva Resort's mystique lives on and gives the hotel its distinction as a true Lake Tahoe classic. The original lodge was built in 1926 by wealthy San Francisco businessman, Robert P. Sherman, who used the lodge as a guesthouse for his friends and real estate clients.
Today, families from all over the world still visit the 199-room historic property which is currently managed by NHH Hotels & Resorts.
