John C. Brennan, 48, of Incline Village, NV, and formerly of Pueblo, CO passed away on Nov 3, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family, friends and his favorite show, ESPN's Sportcenter.
He is survived by his parents Ted and Christie Brennan of Pueblo; siblings Terry Brennan (Jeanne Acheson) of Denver, Andy (Tammy) Brennan of Colo. Spgs, and Colleen (Keith) Meyer of Ft. Collins; nephew Calen Brennan and nieces Taryn Brennan, Jennifer Smith, Ashley Brennan and Karlie Meyer; grand niece, Lily Smith and grand nephew, Brennan Smith; special aunts, Helen McCormick and Patricia McDonnell; and many other favorite aunts, uncles and cousins.
Born Dec. 7, 1962, John (“JB”) graduated from South High School in 1981 where he was a natural athlete in football, baseball and basketball. He received numerous awards including the Babe Ruth Athlete of the Year, Father John Power Award, and was honored by the Greater Pueblo Sports Association for his athletic achievements. He attended Menlo College and graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he received a degree in Economics in 1986.
Following graduation, John found paradise along the shores of Lake Tahoe when he moved to Incline Village and quickly became a popular local. It was here where John harnessed his entrepreneurial spirit and love for sports and became owner of Rookies Sports Bar & Grill for over 20 years. He was loved by many in the community and will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Tim Heilman, Rachel, and “Dr. Tim's” staff for their loving care of John throughout his battle. Special thanks are also extended to John's thoughtful friends and co-workers in Incline Village. We are grateful for your support.
John's family will be holding an Irish celebration in his honor on Saturday, Nov. 19 at The Cock & Bull Tavern, 325 S. Union Ave., Pueblo, CO from Noon-3 p.m. Those who wish may make contributions in memory of John to Runyon Field, 400 Stanton Ave., Pueblo, CO 81003.
