The Tahoe Wave Fútbol Club was founded by a group of local parents in October 2010, wanting to bring a competitive youth soccer club to the North Tahoe area. After just one year, three of six teams came out on top as the region's best.
All of the Tahoe Wave club teams compete in the Great Basin Youth Soccer League. They play teams from Reno, Carson City, Truckee and South Lake Tahoe, while the club consists of players from Incline Village, Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista and Tahoe City.
The U12 girls' team, Extreme, had an undefeated season. The U11 boys' team, Arsenal, also came out on top of the league with just one loss the entire season.
The U10 boys' team, Avalanche, finished up with a first-place trophy in their league division as well. In addition, they took home a first-place trophy at one of the biggest soccer tournaments on the West Coast. The Avalanche beat teams from Sacramento, Lincoln, Rocklin and Reno.
The club's remaining teams, U8, U9 Boys and U10 Girls, also had strong showings throughout the season.
“This is a great representation of the quality soccer we have on Tahoe's North Shore,” said Marc Rancourt, president of the Tahoe Wave Fútbol Club. We are very fortunate to have such high quality, professional coaching, headed up by Mike Simon.”
Most of the teams are looking for players for the upcoming spring season. For more information about teams and sponsorship opportunities, visit www.tahoewave.org.
