INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Snow or no snow in the village, the skiing at Diamond Peak is definitely getting rave reviews. And yes, they are back — all our favorite shoppers. Be prepared for extra lines when just running in to pick up a few items at the end of day. Maybe if we hand out brochures at the door on how to deal with the locals — like not standing in the aisles blocking everyone while trying to figure out what cereal or food you need during your stay in our village — it will be easier this year. But we do appreciate all our visitors even when they are not polite. It just makes shopping more of an adventure.
If Diamond Peak can turn the snowmaking machines on the village for the weekend, we could have our white blanket in a matter of hours. Santa will of course be out and about on the mountain this week, too, so try asking him for snow for Christmas. And if you think Santa needs a little help in the stocking stuffer department online shopping at diamondpeak.com is convenient and will please all on your list.
Remember to sign up now for Camp Xtreme, swim lessons and youth basketball at the Incline Village Recreation Center. Stop over or give them a call at 775-832-1300. This is also a great place to hang out during the holiday weekend.
Birthdays to celebrate include: Jessica Dykstra, Matthew Smith and Sally White on Dec. 22; Alli Berry, Heather Collier, Wayne McClelland and Bailey Rector (sweet 16) on Dec. 23; Franny Bryan on Dec. 25; to Sean Apalos, Toby Feolman and Michael McCloskey on Dec. 26; Mario Cervantes and Don Epstein on Dec. 27; Anthony Cardenas on Dec. 28. Happy Birthday to all.
Happy Anniversary as well to George and Irma LeBard, who celebrated on Dec. 21!
For the best deal around pick up a copy of the Food Network Magazine and mix up a batch of Chipotle and Rosemary Roasted Nuts. The recipe has been tested by Susan Herron and served to her many fans. Spectacular, and all ingredients can be picked up locally. They would make a great treat for all of the weekend activities. Sure to warm everyone up out on the mountain so keep some in your pocket.
Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas to all.
As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news along with the best deals and steals you can find to jeanmeick@aol.com.
