INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Diamond Peak Ski Resort is joining the national effort of the snow sport industry to promote “Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month.” Ski resorts are offering special programs during January 2012 for children and adults who want to learn to ski or snowboard or improve their skills. The goal is to get families and friends outside for winter activities and exercise.
Diamond Peak will offer their beginner package Jan. 9-13 for $29 (normally $75). The package includes a 1 hour 45 minute group lesson, ski or snowboard equipment rental and beginner lift ticket for ages 7 and up; lesson times are at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., daily. Arrive one hour before the lesson.
Hall of Fame skier Wayne Wong will host a ski camp at Diamond Peak Jan. 7 and 8. The camp called, “Learn Right from Wong” will focus on a ski technique known as drifting. This technique is useful in controlling speed and maintaining the ski's relation to the fall line. This camp is designed for skiers looking to take their skills to the next level.
