The Incline girls' and boys' basketball teams both enjoyed big Mount Rose League wins against visiting North Tahoe on Friday, the girls by a score of 49-30 and the boys 74-40.
The Incline girls wasted little time jumping out to a big lead over their lakeside rival, as they built their advantage to 17-4 by the end of the first quarter to create an early cushion.
Incline led 27-14 at the half after an evenly played second quarter. The Highlanders then outscored the Lakers 14-6 in the third quarter before coasting to the easy victory.
Incline sophomore Kortney Solis led the Highlanders offensively with 16 points, while junior teammate Kerrie Tonking scored 14 points and senior Alexa Smith pulled down 11 rebounds. Senior guard Tori O'Connor contributed seven points and five assists.
The Highlanders improved to 4-1 in league and 8-13 overall; the Lakers fell to 2-3 in league and 6-10 overall.
In the boys' game, five different Highlanders scored in double-figures as Incline outscored North Tahoe 23-7 in the first quarter and 23-8 in the second to carry a 46-15 lead into the half.
Senior point guard Jordan Wright scored a game-high 19 points for the Highlanders. Senior Bobby Thoms scored 18 points, Orin Porter Jr. had 12, and Kyle Clouthier and Max Osborne had 10 apiece. Wright and Thoms were both 3-of-7 from three-point range.
Brendon Arnold scored 16 points to lead the Lakers.
Incline improved to a league-leading 5-0 in the MRL and 17-4 overall. The Highlanders remain the only unbeaten team in the league. North Tahoe dropped to 0-5 in the MRL and 4-14 overall.
