Being an attendee at the last Fireside Chat I have a few observations:
One: I was shocked at the citizens who showed up wearing orange shirts and carrying little pieces of paper, many the same size and shape. Short questions they couldn't remember? Not surprising the questions all were attacking the messenger. It is not very often you see a scripted attack on a member of our community who is willing to sit before a crowd and present his position on community events. It is not that they had any serious concerns for the plight of our little community, but rather a vendetta for a man who is willing to question the give-away of community assets.
Two: When was the last time we had a group of locals wishing a member of our community would move out of town? And when was the speaker the spouse of a trustee? I actually thought I was in a town in the South during the 1950s — the only thing missing was a visit from the clan.
Three: It was sad to see Mr. Gurowitz surface again and actually call the presenter a Joseph McCarthy type which had nothing to do with the substance of the presentation. This is a sad community when one has to stoop that low to release his anger or confusion.
Four: For those who came with an open mind, they all left with dropped jaws of astonishment as to how their tax monies are being wasted. I think the message is getting out that IVGID is not what it pretends to be, and certainly it is not “Ready When We R!”
