			<description><![CDATA[<div id='bodyContainer'><div id='mainBody'>			<div id='story'>LAS VEGAS - In a sharp rebuke, Nevada's 17 elected county assessors Thursday refused a request by the state Board of Equalization to appear before a board hearing on Dec. 3 to provide detailed information of how they determine the valuation of 1 million parcels of property throughout the state.<br />Nevada Assessors Association President Michael Mears, the Eureka County Assessor, sent a letter early Thursday to the board rejecting its request to appear at the hearing that has been planned since last spring. Mears said the assessors discussed the issue Wednesday afternoon and voted in favor of the association notifying the board its members would not attend the hearing.<br />The letter said assessors were too busy preparing valuation notices and that many were strapped for funds and could not afford to attend the hearing in Las Vegas. 			<description><![CDATA[<div id='bodyContainer'><div id='mainBody'>			<div id='story'>CARSON CITY, Nev. - High wind warnings are in effect throughout Northern Nevada and the eastern Sierra until about 4 p.m., the National Weather Service reports.<br />"We just hit 65 mph at our office here in north Reno," said meteorologist Scott McGuire, "and we had a gust of 104 mph on Slide Mountain."<br />The Nevada Highway Patrol said no accidents had been reported, but campers and trailers are prohibited through Washoe Valley.<br />The winds are being pushed into the area by a fast-moving Pacific storm with a strong cold front acroass western Nevada this afternoon, he said, and winds will continue to pick up as the day goes on. <br />McGuire said that it's difficult to predict precipitation on the lee side of the Sierra.<br />"The big story is that there will be snowfall in the Sierra. Far From Expected."<br />Cashell spoke out against the previous idea because he was afraid the agency action would eclipse Reno's longtime moniker, the "Biggest Little City."<br />RSCVA President Ellen Oppenheim says the traditional motto is perfect for Reno. The Sierra Nevada Classical Guitar Society will showcase talented artists performing seasonal classics including selections from the Nutcracker Suite. Tickets are $50 per person and include shuttle bus transportation from Incline Village, a walking tour of the Thunderbird Lodge, appetizers at intermission and complimentary non-alcoholic beverages will be served.
